Circular Economy 1

What is the Circular Economy?

The Circular Economy takes its inspiration from nature’s cyclical patterns and seeks to replace the ‘take, make, waste’ linear model of the current economy with a regenerative, restorative model where today’s goods are tomorrow’s resources.

The Circular Economy doesn’t simply focus on recycling product; it explores ways to use fewer raw materials in the first place. The ‘ideal’ circular product is manufactured from recovered ‘waste’ material and is a durable, long lasting product that can be repaired or refurbished to extract the maximum lifetime value from our precious resources before they are recovered, recycled or repurposed into something new.

The Benefits of Circular Economy...

Defracalculations estimates thatUK business could

benefit by up-to£23 billion per year

through low/zero costimprovements in the efficientuse of resources.

WRAP estimates that theCircular Economy could produce

54,000 – 102,000net jobs in the UK

over the next decade.

Innovate UK claimsresource efficiencycould provide a

$2.9 trillion

benefit to the economyby 2030 with ROI of over 10%.

Remanufacturing useson average

85% less energy

than manufacturing which is a potential saving of

800,000 tonnes of CO2

emissions per annum.

TheEllen McCarthurFoundation reports thatthe Circular Economycould produce a materialcost saving opportunityof between340 and 630 billiondollars per yearin Europe alone.

Our Circular Manufacturing Story

Sundeala have been manufacturing in the UK since 1898 and circularity is, literally, in our very fibre. For 122 years we have passionately advocated for a Zero Waste culture and have viewed ‘waste’ as an opportunity.

We were Green half a century before the Green Movement was even conceived of, committed to environmental protection six decades before the New York Times wrote it’s first article about an environmental issue and embracing sustainable manufacturing 72 years before the world’s first Earth Day. We are, and have always been, fundamentally circular at our core.

Today, we combine traditional, natural manufacturing methods with cutting edge research and innovative bio-engineering techniques to create durable, high performance, sustainable fibre board that can replace traditional products that rely on virgin fibres, hazardous chemicals and non-renewable materials.

In Partnership with Smarter Businesses

We are proud to partner with the businesses leading the charge toward a cleaner, safer and more sustainable future.

Modern consumers recognise that decades of technological advances mean the use of non-renewable resources and hazardous chemical additives is no longer simply undesirable, it is unnecessary, unimaginative and most often driven by prioritising profit over values.

Smart Businesses realise that with modern technology younger generations have found a voice and they are using it to unequivocally declare that they consider corporate greed and environmental apathy to be stealing their future.

We are privileged to work with some of the smartest businesses in the UK, involved in awe inspiring design and exciting innovation.

We love to hear from businesses with exciting projects and innovative ideas. If that is you, please get in touch.
